GOLFZON Tour Season 3: September Individual Qualifiers Recap

Doug Piesko from Tee Times Chip Shot

How would you like to win cash or prizes just for playing golf? Not even by scoring the lowest score of a round or hitting it closest to the pin. Just simply participating.

GOLFZON Tour Season 3 introduced a major change this year. While the total purse remains at $300,000, instead of the winner-take-all system used in the previous two seasons, prizes are distributed among multiple participants. Some categories even give players the chance to win regardless of their scores.

September Individual Qualifiers: Results and Cash Prizes

GOLFZON Tour Season 3 Individual Qualifying, which ran throughout September, has concluded with some eye-opening numbers. The qualifying period had a purse of its own, with $20,000 distributed among the top five participants.

Doug Piesko of Tee Times in Detroit, which won GOLFZON Tour Season 2, took home first place and the $10,000 prize after firing -17. His teammate Brandon Barrows finished second to win $5,000 with a score of -16. Jason Bustos, who was part of the Golf Envy team that won the inaugural GOLFZON Tour Season 1, won $2,500 at -15. Parker Reddig of 24Precision Golf in Arizona and Barnes Wallis of The Virtual Greens in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

There was a seven-way tie for fourth at -14, but Reddig and Wallis emerged victorious in a tiebreaker.

Additional Prizes and International Competition Opportunities

The top three players also earned an exemption to play at the GOLFZON China Open in Chengdu, China, at a CityGolf venue. The GOLFZON China Open has a purse of 20 million yuan, which translates to about $3 million USD. The winner will take home 5 million yuan.

While the top performers won cash prizes, several raffle prizes were also available regardless of players’ scores. All participants who completed at least three rounds were eligible to win prizes such as two tickets to the 2027 F1 Miami Grand Prix, a twosome at a top regional GOLFZON partner course, official Antigua GOLFZON Tour apparel and more.

With nearly 150 host facilities, nearly 1,000 people from 14 countries participated in September’s individual qualifying, highlighting the international reach of GOLFZON Tour and its virtual golf tournament competition.

What’s Next: GOLFZON Tour October Team Qualifying

With September’s individual qualifiers wrapped up, it’s time for team competition.

U.S. Open Team Qualifying will narrow down the total number of teams to 64. Thereafter, the 64 teams will compete in bracket play, using a March Madness-style format until a winner is crowned. The final match will take place at the PGA Show in Orlando.
